The hunt is on! (WARNING: be prepared for lots of egg puns in this post!)
For the 2nd year in a row, Faberge has hosted the most awesome egg hunt throughout NYC. No yolk, this is no ordinary egg hunt. There were no cheapo candy-filled plastic eggs to be found here. This hunt consisted of 260+ egg-straordinary giant eggs artfully crafted by talented painters, designers, graffiti artists, decorators, athletes, TV personalities, and also many created by amazing NYC public school students. But of course, not to be outdone by the chocolate spoils of the Easter Bunny, Faberge did have a tasty incentive for the participants of the hunt. Each time an egg was 'cracked' or collected, that person was entered into a drawing to win of of 3 egg-squisite jewel encrusted Faberge pendants. SAY WHAT?!! Take a look at these babies, hellooo...a'hunting we will go!
However, being that doing this hunt was Mikayla's idea, we figured it was best to focus on the actual eggs and the beauty of them rather than on the prize at hand (but, note to Faberge: I will not say no to one of the pendants... if I HAD to take accept one!).
As mentioned previously, there were 260+ eggs scattered over the 5 boroughs of NYC and I instantly knew that it would be physically impossible to collect all the eggs due to the mastermind having to go to school and do homework and sleep at some point. However, she was amazing at planning out each day's local hunt based on neighborhoods and nearest public transportation. That alone deserves a prize, egg-specially for a 6yr old! Hollow chocolate bunny it is! The organizers of the hunt created a great free App that had a map which showed us the location of the eggs once they were found and 'cracked' by at least 5 people. Much to Mikayla's dismay, we were never one of the original 5 finders of an egg, oh well. But she used that map app like a boss to plan out our hunts! She was very egg-cited every day to get the hunt going and make as many green spots turn red.
So, after approximately 12 days, 36 hours of walking around the city, countless coffee & bathroom breaks, lots of oohing & aahing, and a ton of photos, we found 228 out of 260ish eggs. Not too shabby!! As much as we would've loved to have been able to admire each and every work of art, we are super proud of the number of eggs we were able to find.
I'm not going to egg-splode this post with photos of all 228 eggs, so I'll just add a few of our favorites from each day's hunt, broken down by neighborhood as mapped out by the goob. Links are provided for the egg artist/auction info.

Now that the official hunt is over, all of the eggs are being displayed at Rockefeller Center until April 25th. Any missed eggs can be collected into your basket during that time. We were able to collect the missing 40 eggs we weren't able to get to during the hunting phase and also got to photograph some of the eggs that we loved when we found them but weren't able to take a (good) photo. Here are some of our faves from the egg round up...
